Whitefin
Built in Camden, Maine, USA, in the Renaissance Yachts Marine shipyard in 1983.
In January 2015 Whitefin was given by her latest owner, a complete refitting, which brought her up to date with the most recent technology, in full respect of her original layout, both above and below deck
The boat was designed by Californian designer Bruce King, who is known for his series of successful ocean racing and classic maxi yachts such as Signe (1990 again with Renaissance Yachts), Hetairos (1993), Alejandra (1993), Sophie (1994 again with Renaissance Yachts), Antonisa (1999), Maria Cattiva (2002) and Scheherazade (2003).
With Whitefin the result is a mix of agility, lightness and grace, so exquisitely proportioned that it makes you forget her 90-foot size and gives her one of her greatest qualities: speed.
Whitefin is built up in the WEST SYSTEM technology of multiple plies impregnated by Epoxy resin, precisely six plies each made up of 1-inch thick boards. The innermost ply and the four successive plies are Maine white cedar, while the outermost ply, laid longitudinally, is Port Orford (Oregon) Cedar.
If the outside is state-of-the-art technology, combined with traditional style, the inside is simply pure delight of nineteenth century elegance: from the magnificent decagonal skylight and the fireplace in the main salon, the piano desk, the hot tub in the owner’s suite, every part of this boat brings you to the glorious years of the Gilded Era, when sailing was born as an exclusive sport for gentlemen, and them only.
Her modern keel design and the extraordinary large sailing plan , allowed her to win, in recent years, the most prestigious trophies in the most important regattas for her category, the Spirit of Tradition, such as: the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Portocervo, Sardinia; the Vele d’Epoca di Imperia, Trofeo Prada or TrofeoPanerai, in Imperia, Liguria; and Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, in Saint Tropez, France.

Guest Accommodation
The boat layout consists of four cabins: one is the owner suite, all aft, including a comfortable sofa with desk on starboard and a nice toilette corner with sink on port; on the fore starboard side there’s a comfortable bathroom with a bath tub, a wooden masterpiece; forward on starboard there’s the VIP guest cabin with a queen size bed and a spacious bathroom, while on port there are two guest cabins, with two single beds each, and one bathroom. The centre of life on board is the open space area in the wider part of the boat which includes the galley, partially recessed, the nav station, the bar and the saloon with fireplace and piano. This area represents the state of the art in wooden carpentry, with amazing visible structures made of tenths of wood layers which give the warm and the feeling of perfection that just such a superb wooden construction can transmit. Fore of the saloon there’s the crew quarter, a cabin with bathroom and the forepeak, which is a multipurpose area, being fitted with removable table, sofas and two solid folding berths. All areas have air conditioning (Frigomar) and ventilation.
